Working from home
The Cubic team has been working from home for a few months now, so I thought it was time to jot down a few thoughts on how it’s going.
In a nutshell, everything’s fine. It was more by luck than judgement that all of our digital systems were set up to cater for an event such as a global pandemic, but it was nice to not have to spend hours working out how we’ll all stay connected to each other digitally.
Having worked with recent clients as far afield as Greece, Slovakia and the US, we had conferencing tools and the like already in place – it’s just that now we’re using Zoom, Slack and whatever Google are calling their version these days to stay in touch with each other.
A lot's been written about how remote working has become the new normal. While that’s probably true, for Cubic it’s just been, well, pretty normal. It says a lot about the Cubic team that they've been able to adapt quickly and make things work, but we were always flexible about having bodies in the studio. To do what we do – to think, design and make stuff that brands need – sometimes we need that element of freedom and space to immerse ourselves in a business and create order from clutter.
Despite our personal and professional lives becoming more intertwined, we’ve remained busy with client work. We’ve launched new websites for Bridgepoint and Stagfield, crafted a new identity for Oberoi Consulting and designed reports and conference materials for long-term partner FCC Environment, as well as newer client the Royal Air Force Association. We've even found the time to take a long hard look at ourselves in the mirror – hence the new Cubic website.
While we’re not as physically connected as we would like, and the table football table isn’t getting anywhere near as much attention as it was, we remain focused on helping our clients use their brand to make better connections with the people that matter.
